Hover Element

Use Hover Element to move the pointer over a visible element described in natural language. This is useful for menus, tooltips, preview cards, and actions that appear only on hover.

What Is the Hover Element Node?

The node identifies the visible element that matches your description and triggers its hover state. No selector or code is required.

When Should You Use It?

Use Hover Element to:
  • Reveal a dropdown or navigation submenu.
  • Display a tooltip before extracting its content.
  • Open a profile, product, or link preview card.
  • Access an e-commerce mega menu.
  • Reveal action buttons that appear only when the pointer is over an item.

How to Set Up a Hover Element Node

1. Insert the Node

Select the + below a node, then choose Hover Element from the Node Action Library.

2. Describe the Target Element

In Element Location Description, describe the element using its visible text, type, location, or position. Correct examples:
  • The Products menu item in the top navigation bar
  • The user avatar icon in the upper-right corner
  • The first product card in the search results
  • The More options icon next to the file name
  • The category menu in the sidebar
Avoid describing multiple actions in one node. For example, hovering over a menu and clicking an option require separate Hover Element and Click Element nodes.

3. Handle Errors

Configure the failure behavior when the target element cannot be found.

4. Connect Other Nodes

Place Hover Element after the page-opening or navigation step. It is commonly followed by:
  • Click Element to click a revealed menu option.
  • Extract Data to capture tooltip or hover-card content.
  • Wait when the hover effect needs time to appear.

Examples
