# Authentication & Credentials

### Credential Management Basics

**What is it?** A secure vault for storing login info (username, password, 2FA keys) that workflows use automatically.

**Why use it:**

* 🔒 End-to-end encrypted
* ⚡ One-click authorization

* 📊 Complete usage logs

### Add Credentials

**Step 1:** Go to **Credential Center** → **Add**

**Step 2:** Fill in basic info

* **Name:** e.g., "My Instagram Account"
* **Service:** e.g., "[instagram.com](http://instagram.com)"

**Step 3:** Add login fields

* Match what the website shows
* Example: Email = [your-email@gmail.com](mailto:your-email@gmail.com)
* Click **"Add Another Identifier"** if needed

**Step 4 (optional):** Set up 2FA

* Get your Authenticator key from the website
* Paste into **2FA Key** field
* (Only Authenticator apps supported—email/SMS coming soon)

**Step 5:** Click **"Confirm"**

### Use Credentials in Workflows

**Method 1: From Credential Center**

1. Select credential → Click **"Authorize"**
2. Choose workflows to use it for
3. Click **"Authorize"** to confirm

**Method 2: From Workflow Settings**

1. Open workflow → **Start Node**
2. Enable **"Use Stored Credentials"**
3. Click **"Settings"** to add/select credentials

### Auto-Login Options

**Option A: Prompt each run**

* Best for: Different accounts each time
* How: Enable "Prompt for credentials"
* User enters login info when running workflow

**Option B: Use stored credentials (recommended)**

* Best for: Automated/scheduled workflows
* How: Enable "Use stored credentials"
* Workflows auto-login without prompts

### What 2FA Is Supported?

**✅ Supported:**

* Authenticator apps (Google, Authy, Microsoft)

**📅 Coming soon:**

* Email verification codes
* SMS verification codes

### LinkedIn + 2FA Setup

**Complete walkthrough:**

1. **Enable 2FA on LinkedIn**
   1. Settings → Security → Two-factor authentication
   2. Choose Authenticator App
   3. LinkedIn generates QR code + secret key
2. **Copy your key**
   1. Copy the text key (below QR code)
   2. Keep it secure
3. **Add to BrowserAct**
   1. Credential Center → Add
   2. Name: LinkedIn
   3. Email: [your-email@gmail.com](mailto:your-email@gmail.com)
   4. Password: your-password
   5. 2FA Key: paste from LinkedIn
   6. Click **"Confirm"**
4. **Authorize credential**
   1. Credential Center → Select LinkedIn
   2. Click **"Authorize"** → Select workflows
   3. Click **"Authorize"** again
5. **Use in workflow**
   1. Open workflow → Start Node
   2. Enable **"Use Stored Credentials"**
   3. Select your LinkedIn credential
   4. Done! Auto-login works now ✅

### Troubleshooting: Login Fails

**Quick checklist:**  Start by verifying these common issues:

* Password has expired or been changed
* Account is locked or suspended
* Usename/email contains typos or extra spaces
* Two-factor authentication is not configured correctly
